The Rummy Game
To play Rummy, you need a minimum of two players, 110 French-suited cards – six of which should be jokers – and a large table. Rummy is a shedding game, meaning you receive your hand cards at the start of the round, and the rest of the cards are the face-down stock. You then compete to be the first one to empty your hand.
Gameplay goes clockwise, with each player starting a turn by drawing a card from the stock pile or the discard pile. Your turn always ends by discarding one of your cards. Between drawing a card and discarding, you can combine cards to form melds, add cards to an existing meld, or swap cards for Jokers.
A round of Rummy ends when one player has used all their cards to create melds and discards their final card. At this point, it’s time to calculate scores. The other players in the game receive minus points equivalent to the total points value of all remaining cards in their own hand and the winning player receives the sum of the value of each players remaining handcards.The overall game, which we call a table at Rummy Palace, ends once a predefined number of rounds have been played. Whichever player has the highest total score at the end of these rounds wins! When playing Rummy online at the Rummy Palace, the rules of the game are maintained and upheld, and points are calculated automatically.
